As you may have seen, Oxygen Esports has unveiled significant news over the last month featuring our deal with Kraft Sports & Entertainment to bring the Boston Uprising and Boston Breach underneath the OXG umbrella. As we’ve made clear, we plan to assert our dominance in North America, specifically in the Boston metropolitan and New England area.
For those who did not see, we recently have found new homes for our Turkey-based male Valorant roster. After an amazing year of success in EMEA VCT, where our team finished top 6 in the region, we felt it was time to explore a different direction for the future of OXG Valorant. We are forever grateful to Mavera, Xistou, M1tez, Toronto, Glovee, Unity, and Cuaj for all they have given to OXG and wish them the best in their future endeavors. They have left big shoes to fill.
While it is bittersweet to say goodbye to last year’s team, I am thrilled to announce the next generation of OXG Valorant. We have had our eyes set on North America…and the future for quite some time. It is with great personal pleasure that we welcome the first official OXG Academy roster: Yassin “Reduxx” Aboulalazm, James “Nurfed” McFadden, Rustun “Rustun” Lusk, Andrew “Verno” Maust and Leandro “Virtyy” Moreno. The team will be supported by manager Alan “Wrap” Shen. While Reduxx has been with OXG since inception, we are thrilled to welcome our newest members as they chart their course to being the best academy team in North America this year and aim to become VCT champions in the future. Their results to date have been stellar and we have all the confidence in the world that this team will do great things!
While Valorant is our first official academy roster, one of our core pillars as a company is creating a transparent amateur to pro-pipeline and providing equitable access to opportunity in esports. Over the coming years, you will see significant investment from OXG into building structured competition and programming for aspiring esports athletes and providing opportunities for the next generation of gamers.
What does this mean for the community? Expect more community-focused events geared towards engaging and growing our amazing fanbase, all with the goal of scouting talent and fostering competitive growth across every title and game genre. Also, we are going to continue to feature in-person events, competitions, camps, and leagues to foster social connection and high-quality competition for all gamers.
